Getting Started with Couples Counseling

Reach out to me using the contact form on the home page.

During this introductory video call I will ask both partners to describe their goals for treatment and summarize for you how I think my therapeutic process may be able to help.

Once you click the link in the email you will be prompted to review and electronically sign the consent for treatment, HIPAA notification, Patient Bill of Rights, demographics questionnaire and enter your payment method. There will also be detailed information about arrival for in person sessions.

Click on the hyperlink to our session and provide the software application authorization for the use of your camera and microphone OR follow the directions I send you for in person arrival.

I will email you and your partner to set up a brief introductory video call.

If you chose to move forward after our call, I will email you and your partner a hyperlink to my online portal. Simple Practice is my online HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1994) compliant therapy software application where I maintain client information and provide online sessions. You will have the ability to schedule sessions, download invoices, send me secure messages and log on to online sessions all from this one online portal.

Check your email account for my message verifying your appointment time. This will arrive at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled meeting time and will include a link to our online session. If you opt for online sessions, you will receive a new link for each scheduled session 48 hours in advance.

Tips for a Successful Online Session

  • Please test your camera and microphone in advance of our session to ensure both are in working order. You can do this using the Simple Practice web application.

  • Please be sure to turn off any bluetooth audio devices (headphones, speakers etc.) not in use prior to launching the page. If you forget and find you are unable to hear me simply close the page and open it again after turning off your bluetooth audio.

  • Please use a private WiFi network connection versus a cellular network such as 4G LTE or 5G. Cellular network connections may not provide the amount of data required for our session.
